The renovation of an original 1949 house, designed and built by A.D. Stenger came with many challenges. Ideally, the goal was to preserve the form and basic plan of the residence, while updating and modernizing material and building methods. The space was gutted, re-framed when required and introduced steel at the existing clerestory and windows around the estimated 200-year-old Live Oak tree, which the existing house was built around. In 2018, a master bedroom/ bathroom was added off the West end of the house. Great care was taken in the design and construction as to not adversely affect the critical root zone of another +/- 200-year-old Live Oak tree on the lot. The residence provides four bedrooms and three bathrooms for an active, happy family of four.
